In Loving Memory

Our Horses.....Our Treasures

Our Jewels that

shine in the sun and neigh in the night.

Sadie with her baby Laddie

Solace for Your Grief

I'll lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, He said.
For you to love while he's alive
And mourn for when he's dead.

It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months, you see.
But will you, till I take him back
Take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief
You'll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.

I've looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
With trust, I have selected you.

Now will you give him your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come
To take him back again?

I know you'll give him tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you've known
Forever grateful stay.

But should I come and call for him
Much sooner than you planned,
Please brave the bitter grief that comes
And know someday you'll understand.

Our Silenced Thunder

Our Magnificent Pride (MoonlightVoyager)

 5/30/1997 - 8/11/2006

You introduced us to your breed in the most gentle, dignified way, despite your past hardships.  You were indeed the true meaning of the word  MAGNIFICENT!  We enjoyed every minute we were blessed with you. Your kindness, strength and trust showed us that angels do indeed inhabit the earth.  Our Pride, we will listen for your thundering, hoofbeats at heavens gates and will be greatly honored to enter only when being carried by you.

There are my Ladies!                   Hi baby Lily, hi mom.                          Any treats in those pockets?

Pride, both a riding and driving stallion, was great not only with us, but with children and other animals as well. His versitality was endless. He could use  those powerful muscles to pull downed trees, yet would be as gentle as a lamb when someone was on his back. He was what the Shires "Gentle Giant" reputation is all about. Pride didn't like his thick forelock in his eyes so every morning he would amble over and bow his head for Ann to braid it before breakfast. As he was on earth, he is surely still in the "powerful, noble angel" category and happily helping out wherever he's needed. Though the need must be very important for him to have left us so soon, as he is sorely missed. You - Pride - will always be our favorite. Know that we both still miss you, love you and think of you every single day.NOTE FROM MOM: To this day, almost 7 years after your death, after all the changes here, when working in your pasture, I still sometimes hear your hoofsteps and welcome the feel of your breath gently blowing across my cheek and always, I sense your presence. I know you are still here in spirit watching over me. letting me know all the hard work, pain, and animal heartache is worth it. Because of you, gentle soul - I believe.

Pride, our Love for you will go on Forever.

               Vanished Neighs

Sadie mare (Plas Bach Sadie of Deerview)

 4/5/1995 - 2/26/2007

Dear, sweet, sweet Sadie.  We didn't have the full story on you as we do now, but we knew you were missing someone.  Although we spoiled you and gave you special treatment, we think your months before coming to us were too hard for you.  Because we miss you so much, we kept your October surprise baby boy and he is such a kind and gorgeous Lad, so sweet, just like his mama.  Your dignity, beauty and kindness honored your breed.  Your boy honors you.  Gentle girl we look forward to seeing you again one day.

Sadie, our Love for you will go on Forever.

        Legacy (Pride's Legacy of DunRovin')

May 12,  2007

We worked so hard to get you here and so badly wanted you to stay.  But it seemed your daddy (Pride) needed your company even more than we did.  You were the perfect Shire, four long white socks, a big blaze just like your mom and dad, so strong and sweet, with terrific conformation.  Precious Baby, stay by your fathers' side, as he will care for you until we can hold you tight in our arms once again, when we will never have to let you go.

Legacy, our Love for you will go on Forever.

Baby "V" (Sir Valiant of DunRovin')

You were the strongest colt we've ever seen ..... muscled, ripped, and oh, so full of life.  Such conformation and how gorgeous!  What a pleasure you were - what greatness you showed.  The perfect combination from our great Apollo and our lead foundation mare Crystal.  Yet, for some reason, you had to leave us.  Oh, how your mom mourned you - how we all did.  You will never know how your death changed our lives.  We love you "V", and we miss you so, so very much.  Our gorgeous, wonderful little stallion we will see you again.

"V", our Love for you will go on Forever.

            Tristan (Sir Tristan of DunRovin')

4/18/2009 - 1/11/2010

From day one you were our special baby boy, first one of the year, so big, bright, handsome and so very sweet.  Your months were not easy for you, yet through it all you never lost your pleasant nature or your zest for life.  So very much like your daddy, you were getting taller and taller with those same long legs and pretty feathers.  The day you were supposed to finally join the pasture herd, instead you suddenly left for the stars.  It's been hard going to the stable without you there talking to us, Baby Tristan.  You touched many lives and were loved by even more.  Although we are not able to understand why you had to leave, we are so very glad you were here with us for a while.  We so miss you Tristan.  Please ready us a stall in your stable now our special baby boy.

Tristan, our Love for you will go on Forever.

A special thank you goes out to the girls (and guys) at K-State for helping us to care for and keep our boy enjoying life with us for as long as he did.
